The Braceville African American Heritage Museum 'The BAAHM', will open this Summer to preserve and provide historical information about famous local and national celebrities from Braceville such as Earnie Shavers, Brian Broome, Guy Hughes, Ted Toles Jr. and Randy Stephens and to memorialize the legacy of the community's rich African-American history. Braceville's African American Community has a rich history and is believed to have once been the largest rural African American Community in Ohio. Braceville is known for its historic role in the 'Underground Railroad' and a fresh start for many during the 'Great Migration'. The museum will feature Video Recordings, Audio Recordings, Digital Displays, Visual Displays, Period Artifacts, and other exhibits. The Museum will be the first and only African American History Museum in the Trumbull, Mahoning, Summit, Portage, Geauga county region. We believe that the museum will provide recreation, attract tourists, and create a more inclusive and sustainable future for Braceville.
